At the heart of the Spirit of Humanity Forum was a powerful idea:
The way out is in.

The gathering unfolded as a living laboratory. Surrounded by a landscape shaped by fire and ice, the city stood as a quiet lighthouse, reminding us that even in uncertainty, there are places within and around us that remain anchored in clarity and peace.

A panel exploring new ways of leading, grounded in real-world practice. Featuring Allan-Charles Chipman, Richard Dunne, Dr. Susa Prescott, Calvin Lies, and Maruee Pahuja.

Guided by the vision of its director, Jóhanna Vilhjálmsdóttir, the Forum brought together leaders and visionaries into a space rooted not only in solutions, but in presence, listening, and inner transformation as the foundation for systemic change.

From the very first day, the experience was designed as a reflective and interactive space to arrive fully, both individually and collectively. Through guided sessions and shared dialogue, participants were invited to look inward, not only at the systems we seek to change, but at how those systems are reflected within us.

A powerful exchange across generations.Youth leaders Maruee Pahuja and Leon Bijelic in conversation with Halla Tómasdóttir, President of Iceland, and Jesper Brodin, CEO of IKEA.

Alongside this inner work, panels throughout the day shared real-world examples of new ways of leading and organizing. These were not abstract ideas, but lived experiences, stories of individuals and communities creating change through shifts in awareness, values, and approach. There was a clear sense that even within existing systems, something new is already taking shape.

Rather than asking how to fix the world, the Forum asked something deeper: what within us sustains the patterns we seek to change?

Hallgrímskirkja stands as a quiet anchor in the heart of Reykjavík.A moment of stillness. A reminder of what remains steady within.

ransformation is not something we impose outwardly. It is something we embody first. To lead from within requires the courage to pause, the willingness to listen, and the openness to the unknown. It is in these spaces, between words, between roles, between certainty and curiosity, that something new begins to emerge.

What emerges is a deeper understanding of what it means to be human, together.

The second day expanded this work into smaller, focused hubs, co-laboratory spaces where participants gathered around key themes such as governance, health, education, environment, and the creative arts. Within these groups, dialogue became more applied. Ideas were explored through conversation, reflection, and light prototyping, allowing participants to engage not only intellectually, but experientially.

Each hub worked through its own process of inquiry, eventually sharing key insights, guiding principles, and emerging directions with the larger group. These moments of collective reflection created coherence across diverse perspectives, reinforcing the idea that meaningful change is both deeply personal and inherently collaborative.

This is where the notion of illuminality begins to take form, a state of being where inner light becomes guidance, where clarity emerges from within, and where the presence we cultivate begins to illuminate the spaces we move through.

Water gathered from Gullfoss Waterfall and a question held gently, inviting deeper connection to what flows through us and before us.

The Forum reminded us that we are not separate from the systems we seek to transform. We are participants within them. The work then becomes a return, again and again, to wholeness, alignment, and belonging.

As the days unfolded, there was a growing sense that the Forum itself was not something confined to a place or a moment in time, but something living. Something that continues in the way we speak, the way we listen, the way we lead, and the way we choose to relate to one another.

We leave with deep gratitude for having been part of the Spirit of Humanity Forum and for every voice that contributed. We look forward to continuing this dialogue. Within and through.
