A Crystal Experience with IXIM and Gem X

Mayra Hernandez guiding a meditation
On November 4th, IXIM partnered with Gem X for a gathering devoted to presence, intentionality, and the exploration of Crystal energy. The event took place at PROXYCO Gallery, generously hosted by Alex Morris and Laura Guardia. From the moment the doors opened, the space held a quiet focus that shaped the rest of the evening.

Opening With Art & Intention
The night opened with a short walkthrough of Lucía Vidales’s exhibition, Sedimento. Alex and Laura introduced the group to Vidales’s approach, where figures shift between recognizability and abstraction. Nothing is fixed.
This environment created a natural bridge to IXIM’s work. It reminded everyone that our inner landscape functions in a similar way. Energy moves, perception shifts, and understanding often arrives in fragments that eventually take shape. The exhibition helped settle the group into a mindset of openness before moving into the Crystal experience.
Opening the Circle: Presence & Connection
After the walkthrough, everyone gathered in a circle. Each person introduced themselves and offered a brief check in. This portion of the evening allowed people to arrive fully and acknowledge where they were mentally and emotionally. It also created a sense of shared presence before moving into deeper work.
Mayra Hernandez (Founder of IXIM) and Julissa Diaz (IX Studio Assistant & Crystologist) then read Lawrence Stoller’s poem Crystals Can Serve Me. The reading was done across from one another, creating a visual and energetic bridge within the room. The poem spoke to Crystals as tools that support awareness, intention, and self-understanding. Its purpose was not to intellectualize the stones, but to shift the group into a receptive state.

Choosing a Crystal and Meeting Its Energy
Participants were invited to select a crystal from a curated set chosen specifically for the event. Rather than beginning with explanation or definitions, the group was encouraged to sit with their stone quietly and feel its presence.
Only after this initial moment of observation did Mayra introduce the properties and qualities associated with each Crystal type. People naturally grouped themselves according to the stone they selected, giving everyone a chance to notice how individual choices reflected internal needs or states of mind. The conversation opened into genuine reflection, curiosity, and connection.

Grounding and Integration
The grounding portion of the night centered on Black Tourmaline. Mayra guided a meditation that invited participants to settle their awareness into the body and release scattered energy. This created a sense of stability after the more exploratory parts of the evening. The room grew noticeably quieter and more centered as the meditation deepened.
When the grounding practice concluded, the group transitioned into open discussion. People asked questions about their Crystals, shared observations, and engaged with one another in a thoughtful and respectful way. The atmosphere remained steady, warm, and attentive.
Closing in Gratitude
Before leaving, each guest received a small gift as a reminder of the intentions set during the evening. What stayed with most participants, however, was the feeling of connection created within the group. The experience highlighted what IXIM is committed to: creating spaces where people can understand themselves more clearly, slow down long enough to notice their inner state, and connect with others in an authentic way.
We are grateful to Gem X, to Alex and Laura for hosting, and to everyone who joined us. This collaboration reflected the best of what intentional community can offer. IXIM looks forward to continuing to create spaces that support clarity, alignment, and meaningful human experience.
